U16 Girls Kickoff their League campaign.

In News, U16 Girls, Womens Rugby, Youths

Our u16 girl’s team had their maiden voyage of the new season on Sunday morning as the amalgamated Killarney RFC Iveragh RFC Listowel Rugby Killorglin Rugby Club . It kicked it off with a well-earned win against PIRATES RFC /Midleton Womenโ€™s Rugby /Youghal Ladies Rugby Team team.

Our girls started very strong in the first half with good hands and support play in offence to put three tries on the board early, one of which was converted. They conceded a try late in the first half to go in at halftime 17-5 up.

The opposition grew into the game in the second half after an early try from our girls, putting us on the back foot defensively and with strong forwards play going on, the score two tries, both converted well.

This led to a nervy final few minutes, but we held on to secure the win. It was an excellent first-team performance, and many girls new to rugby got a taste of the game during periods throughout the match.

Big thank you to Cobh/Midleton /Youghal for a very competitive game, for travelling so early, and for being so lovely to players on both sides.

Thanks to all the parents who helped out before and after, brilliant sideline support as always appreciated, and to our u16s coach Tony Dunne and u18s coaches TJ Brosnan and Chip Vivier for working together when needed fabulous stuff.

Thank you also to Anne Gabbett for the photos.
