Una O’Leary

 In Club, News

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Una O’Leary, a cherished member of our club community. Una’s dedication and contributions to our club over the years have left an indelible mark on us all.

Una was the beloved mother of Brian O’Leary, who has been a pillar of our club, playing, captaining, and coaching at every level, and is currently serving as the Director of Rugby. Her son Dave O’Leary has also been integral to the club, both as a player and a referee. Her daughter April has played TAG rugby and has been a dedicated volunteer.

Una’s legacy extends to her grandchildren, who are also active in the club. Keelyn has played with our underage girls’ teams, while Robyn and Tom both play with the minis.

Una’s contributions were numerous and invaluable. She cooked for the club, washed jerseys, and, during times when the club couldn’t afford new kits, she meticulously repaired both senior and underage jerseys. Her commitment was such that her house, which backed onto the old pitch in Ballydribbeen, became an extension of the club. Although she watched our matches from home because she believed attending would bring bad luck, her presence and support were always felt.

Una’s dedication, hard work, and love for the club and its members will always be remembered. She was a true embodiment of the club spirit, and her absence will be deeply felt by all. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Brian, Dave, April, and all of Una’s family and friends.

Rest in Peace.

Ger Moynihan,
Chairman Killarney RFC
